Hua Hin & Bangkok 2015 - Day 1

It was really a long 3 hours car ride from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Hua Hin - *back aching*.

Finally, we reached our destination – InterContinental Hua Hin. It is a short 2 days stay and hopefully we can get the best out of Hua Hin. Freshen up after checking in, we head out to explore the night life of Hua Hin with first pampering our bodies with a nice 2 hours body scrub and aromatherapy massage in Let’s Relax Spa in Hua Hin Market Village.

It was drizzling when our massage ends at 7pm and our stomachs are growling. Deciding that we will come back the next day to explore Hua Hin Market Village, we moved on to the night market. Tuk tuk ride was THB140. Drizzle became rain when we arrived at the night market and it really dampened the mood. We had no choice but to do the stupidest thing, buy an umbrella when we had 2 nicely packed in the luggage.  As we walked further into the night market, a barbeque aroma travels its way into our nostrils that turn us into drooling fools. What come into view were restaurants after restaurants of BBQ seafood line up for selection. It is amusing how the restaurants were clearly differentiate by their patrons. Basically, they are divided into 2 groups, restaurants patronized by Caucasians and restaurants for the Asians. We chose *Lung Ja Seafood* run by a Thai Chinese boss (I think that's the boss).

We ordered King Prawns after witnessing them on the grill, followed by tom yum goong, stir-fried kang kong with salted bean and stir-fried kway tiew. Of course, fresh coconut drink is a must. "Seeing is believing" was the best description at this moment. The BBQ king prawns were finger licking good. The spiciness of the clear tom yum goong sends us perspiring big time. The kang kong is of comforting taste but the kway tiew was not up to our expectation. We paid THB1000 for the meal with the king prawns taking up THB650. The rain starts to stop when we were done with our dinner. *lucky me*

Now it is time to shop for souvenirs and local desserts. Similar to all night markets, you see one you see all. Merchandises are common so it highly depends on your bargaining skill to clinch a good deal. We got a Hua Hin Station magnet and some really cheap pouches at THB20. T-shirts in Navy design were cute with the best color combination of navy blue and white. I also got to eat my all-time favorite Thai pancake with shredded coconut and really sweet cream.

Ending our night with a minor commotion and that was to find our room’s wireless phone and wifi not working at 10pm. We were already very tired and just wanted a nice bath before hitting the bed. Fortunately, the Front Desk Manager on duty was quick in response and had our room changed within 15mins.

With a new room, a nice bed and pillows, both of us fell into lala land instantly.
